Solid oak floating shelves with a clean, straight-cut front edge and softly eased corners. Each one is a single board of oak, 1.6 in thick, with no MDF core and no veneer. A hidden steel bracket makes the shelf look like it grows out of the wall. Choose from eight lengths, 15.7 to 47.2 in, all 8.7 in deep, for modern kitchens, bathrooms, home offices and living rooms. Shipped from our warehouse in Romania.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Every shelf is made from European oak, not veneer or MDF. Each one is handmade, so the grain pattern and tone vary slightly from piece to piece, and no two shelves are identical.
Each shelf holds up to 26 lbs when properly mounted into wall studs or a solid wall such as brick or concrete. Spread heavier items evenly along the shelf rather than concentrating them at one end.
The shelves are finished with oil, which soaks into the wood to protect it while keeping the natural feel and grain of the oak. To clean, wipe with a dry or lightly damp cloth and dry right away; avoid harsh cleaners, solvents and abrasive sponges. Over time you can refresh the finish by applying a thin coat of wood oil with a soft cloth, letting it absorb, and wiping off the excess. Spills should be wiped up promptly, since an oil finish resists moisture but isn't fully waterproof.
Reelken floating shelves come in eight lengths: 15.7, 19.7, 23.6, 27.6, 31.5, 35.4, 39.4 and 47.2 in. Every shelf is 8.7 in deep and 1.6 in thick, and each length is available with either a natural live edge or a clean straight edge. On live edge shelves the depth varies slightly along the front, since it follows the natural shape of the tree.
Our solid oak shelves suit the kitchen, living and dining room, bedroom, and bathroom. In kitchens and bathrooms, keep them away from direct steam and water splashes, as the oil finish resists moisture but isn't waterproof. In every room, mount into studs or a solid wall, not drywall alone.
Mount the shelves into wall studs or onto a solid wall such as brick or concrete, using fixings suited to that wall type. We don't recommend mounting on drywall alone, as it can't reliably support the weight of a solid oak shelf and its contents, even with anchors.
